PLS Landscaping installs St. Augustine, Zoysia and Bermuda sod as part of a controlled lawn-replacement process that can include removal, soil preparation, finish grading and irrigation coordination. We inspect the property before recommending the grass variety or preparation method, because a new lawn should not be placed over the same conditions that caused the previous one to fail.

Replace the grass only after understanding why it failed
Repeated patching is discouraging when the same bare areas return. The cause may be compacted soil, insufficient sunlight, inconsistent irrigation, standing water, tree-root competition or an uneven surface. An onsite evaluation helps separate a grass-selection problem from a construction or site-preparation problem.

Watering should begin promptly and keep the sod and underlying soil consistently moist during rooting. Limit unnecessary traffic, verify coverage across the lawn and delay mowing until the sod has established sufficient roots.

Before rebuilding the lawn
Do you remove the existing lawn before installing sod?
Removal and preparation requirements depend on the existing condition. Failed turf, weeds and applicable unsuitable material should not remain as an unstable layer below the new lawn.
Can you level the lawn before installing sod?
Surface irregularities and minor low areas can be addressed within the agreed scope. Significant elevation or drainage conditions require a site-specific grading plan.
Should irrigation be checked first?
Yes. Coverage concerns, damaged components and heads within changed lawn limits should be addressed before sod placement whenever they are included in the scope.
Which grass is best for a shaded yard?
No sod thrives without sufficient light. St. Augustine and some Zoysia varieties may tolerate partial shade better than Bermuda, but actual exposure should be evaluated.
How soon can the family use the lawn?
Limit traffic while the sod roots into the prepared soil. Establishment time varies with grass type, season, weather, watering and site conditions.
How is the estimate determined?
