Before construction begins
Do pavers need a compacted base?
Yes. The required excavation and base depend on the material, soil, use and site conditions. Proper preparation helps support the surface and maintain finished elevations.
Can drainage be installed with a patio project?
Yes, when required by the site. Collection points, channel drains, conveyance pipe and surface slope should be planned before the patio closes the work area.
Which is better for my yard, pavers or concrete?
The decision depends on architecture, desired pattern, budget, access, soil, maintenance expectations, drainage and how the surface will be used.
Can gravel be used for patios and walkways?
Yes. Gravel areas still require excavation, separation and base preparation, defined edges and a material selected for the intended walking or gathering use.
Can lighting or irrigation cross beneath the new surface?
Applicable sleeves, conduit, wiring and irrigation changes should be coordinated before installation. Future access becomes more difficult after the surface is complete.
How is hardscape pricing determined?
Pricing reflects demolition, access, excavation, disposal, base material, compaction, selected finish, cuts, edges, drainage, steps, walls and restoration.
