How long does a landscape construction project take?
Timelines vary by scope, access, weather, and site conditions. Small corrections may take a few days, while larger projects can take one to two weeks or longer. Your estimate will explain the anticipated schedule.

What landscaping services do you provide?
We provide landscape construction, drainage, grading, sod installation, irrigation, artificial turf, concrete, pavers, patios, walkways, retaining walls, landscape borders, gravel installation, lighting, fencing, planting, and related outdoor improvements.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. PLS Landscaping is insured, and our irrigation work is performed under Texas Irrigation License #LI0026425.
How much experience does PLS Landscaping have?
PLS Landscaping has served Houston-area properties since 2011, with experience coordinating landscape, drainage, grading, irrigation, lawn, concrete, and hardscape construction.

Do you offer lawn mowing or ongoing maintenance?
No. We focus on landscape construction and installation projects and do not currently offer routine lawn mowing.
Drainage, Grading, and Soil
Why do some Houston landscaping projects fail after a few years?
Poor drainage, incorrect grading, compacted soil, and expansive clay can cause standing water, unhealthy plants, uneven lawns, erosion, and shifting hardscapes. Correcting the site conditions before installation improves long-term performance.
What is the difference between landscaping and landscape construction?
Landscaping often describes visible improvements such as plants and mulch. Landscape construction also addresses grade, drainage, soil preparation, structural bases, irrigation, material transitions, and installation methods.
Do I need drainage work before installing sod or artificial turf?
Sometimes. If water already collects or moves poorly, installing a new surface without correcting the cause may lead to pooling, soft areas, erosion, or unhealthy grass. We inspect the property before recommending drainage or grading work.
Is grading necessary for landscape installation?
Grading is important when the existing elevations do not move runoff toward a suitable discharge point. Proper slope helps protect structures and improves the performance of lawns, planting beds, drainage systems, and hardscapes.
How do you help prevent erosion along fences and side yards?
The solution may include slope correction, controlled drainage, stabilized soil, gravel, borders, or other material transitions. The correct method depends on runoff volume, access, elevation, and the available discharge location.
Sod, Plants, and Irrigation
What type of sod works best in Houston?
St. Augustine, Bermuda, and Zoysia are common options. The right selection depends on sunlight, shade, drainage, foot traffic, appearance, and maintenance expectations. Soil preparation and irrigation also affect establishment.
Why do plants sometimes fail shortly after installation?
Common causes include compacted soil, poor drainage, incorrect planting depth, unsuitable sunlight, and inconsistent irrigation. We consider these conditions when planning new planting areas.
Should irrigation be adjusted after landscaping is installed?
Usually. New grades, planting beds, sod, and hardscape surfaces can change coverage requirements. Heads, nozzles, zones, or controller settings may need adjustment to avoid dry areas and overwatering.
Do you work with new-construction homes?
Yes. New-construction properties often require grading corrections, soil preparation, drainage planning, irrigation, sod, planting, and hardscape work before the outdoor space is complete.

Can landscaping be coordinated with patios, walkways, or concrete?
Yes. Coordinating the grade, drainage, structural base, irrigation, planting, and surface elevations helps create cleaner transitions and reduces the risk of future conflicts.
Do you install pavers, retaining walls, and landscape borders?
Yes. We install paver patios and walkways, garden and lawn borders, retaining-wall blocks, natural stone, brick, and concrete wall systems where appropriate for the project.
Can one contractor complete several parts of my outdoor project?
Yes. Depending on the scope, we can coordinate drainage, grading, irrigation, concrete, hardscaping, sod, artificial turf, planting, lighting, and fencing as one construction plan.
