Mud beside the foundation
Roof water and narrow grades can keep soil wet along the house and gate route.
Correct the grade. Collect the runoff. Protect the usable ground.
Standing water can turn a shaded Kingwood backyard or narrow side yard into ground the family avoids after every storm. Saturated soil damages sod, tracks mud indoors, limits play for children and pets and can concentrate runoff beside the home. PLS Landscaping evaluates where the water begins, how the surface is graded, where it collects and whether a responsible discharge route is available. The construction plan may combine catch basins, solid drainage pipe, French drains, underground downspout connections, grading and lawn restoration according to the actual property.

Water often moves across several surfaces before reaching the low area. Treating only the puddle can leave the source and blocked route unchanged.
Roof water and narrow grades can keep soil wet along the house and gate route.
Shaded soil may dry slowly when settlement or surrounding elevations also trap surface water.
Patios, drives and walks can accelerate water toward lawn areas, doors or planting beds.
New grass cannot correct saturated soil, compacted ground or an unresolved low point.
Construction matched to the site
A French drain is not the automatic answer to every wet yard. The water source, soil condition, elevations, tree locations and available outlet determine the appropriate combination.
Surface inlets placed at planned low points collect runoff before it spreads across lawn, gate or patio areas.
Non-perforated conveyance pipe carries collected surface water through the property toward the selected outlet.
Perforated pipe, drainage aggregate and filter fabric may intercept subsurface moisture where saturated soil is the primary condition.
High and low areas are corrected where feasible to create positive surface movement without burying important clearances.
Roof runoff can enter a dedicated solid line instead of discharging directly beside the foundation or into a planting bed.
Disturbed areas are fine graded and restored after underground work, connections and final elevations are complete.
Wooded-property considerations
Mature trees, shade, fences, irrigation, utilities and established hardscape can limit where a trench or discharge route can travel. Before construction, we review access and visible tree-root conditions along the proposed route. The goal is to avoid unnecessary disturbance while still establishing workable collection, pipe slope and restoration. Where the available route conflicts with major site features, the scope or method must be adjusted rather than forcing a standard layout.
Residential drainage construction
These photographs show four different drainage conditions and construction stages. The captions describe only what is visible in each image.

Construction sequence
Review water sources, elevations, soil, trees, utilities, irrigation, access and outlet options.
Set collection points, pipe alignment, grade correction and the discharge route.
Open trenches and applicable low areas while maintaining the planned route.
Place drainage components, make connections and complete surface elevation correction.
Close the work area, restore applicable surfaces and review the completed installation.
Make the yard usable after the rain
The practical result is a cleaner gate route, less mud tracked into the house and a more dependable lawn area for children and pets. Drainage construction does not control every effect of severe weather, but correcting known low areas and directing ordinary runoff can restore parts of the property that have remained wet and frustrating.

Kingwood and nearby areas
PLS Landscaping evaluates residential drainage and grading projects in Kingwood, Humble, Atascocita, Porter and nearby communities. Project availability depends on scope, access and location.
No. Surface grading, catch basins, solid pipe or downspout connections may be more appropriate. French drains address certain subsurface moisture conditions.
Yes, when the line and outlet are planned for the roof runoff. Downspout conveyance normally uses solid pipe rather than perforated French-drain pipe.
Sometimes. Grading can work when sufficient elevation exists for continuous surface flow. Where structures, fences or neighboring grades block that route, collection and conveyance may also be needed.
Tree trunks, visible roots and root zones can affect trench alignment, excavation access and finish grade. These conditions should be reviewed onsite before defining the route.
Applicable disturbed areas can be prepared and restored after pipe installation, trench closure and final grading. The restoration scope is defined in the estimate.
The outlet depends on the property elevations, available route and applicable requirements. A discharge point should not be assumed until the site is evaluated.

We will evaluate the visible problem, surrounding grade, roof runoff, site constraints and possible construction route before defining the recommended scope.
