Can pavers and gravel be installed in a narrow side yard?
Yes, when access, excavation depth, drainage and finished elevation allow a stable base to be constructed. The walkway should not trap water against the house or neighboring fence.
Why do pavers sink or move?
Common causes include inadequate excavation, weak or poorly compacted base, missing edge restraint, saturated subgrade and water moving through the construction section.
Can a paver patio connect directly to artificial turf?
Yes. The patio elevation, turf base and perimeter restraint must be coordinated so the connection remains stable and does not create a low edge that holds water.
Does artificial turf solve backyard drainage problems?
No. Turf is a finished surface, not a correction for improper grade or blocked runoff. Existing drainage conditions must be evaluated and corrected below the turf system when needed.
When does a garden need a retaining wall?
A retaining wall may be appropriate where a real grade change must be supported or prepared garden soil needs containment. A simple decorative border should not be represented as structural retention.
