Gravel size, shape and color affect walking comfort, movement and appearance. Edge restraint, installed depth and the base below matter as much as the selected stone. Decorative gravel should not be placed directly over soft, muddy soil.

Will gravel alone fix a muddy side yard?
Not when water and unstable soil remain unresolved. Gravel needs excavation, a suitable base, containment and a drainage plan appropriate to the property.
Does every wet side yard need a French drain?
No. Catch basins, solid conveyance pipe, downspout connections, channel drains or surface grading may be more appropriate depending on the water source and outlet.
How are stepping pavers spaced?
Spacing is planned around unit size, normal stride, route alignment and transitions at gates, patios and other fixed surfaces.
Can downspouts connect to the side-yard drainage?
They may be connected when the pipe route, capacity, cleanout access and discharge location are appropriate for the project.
What happens to irrigation lines in the work area?
Known irrigation components are considered during layout. Lines or heads that conflict with drainage and walkway construction may need repair, relocation or adjustment.
