Artificial turf and natural sod solve different pool-area needs
Artificial turf
Useful where a constructed, consistently finished surface is preferred. Installation requires removal, subgrade correction, compacted drainage base, secure edging and coordinated transitions to the pool deck and pavers. Turf does not correct an existing low area unless the grade and water path are rebuilt below it.
New sod
Appropriate where sunlight, soil, irrigation and use support natural grass. Existing lawn removal, grading, soil preparation and irrigation coverage should be completed before Bermuda, St. Augustine or Zoysia sod is installed as the final surface.
Living material notice: sod establishment depends on watering, weather, sunlight, soil conditions and care. It is not warranted after installation.

Can drainage be added around an existing pool deck?
Yes, when the property has a workable collection elevation and discharge route. The method may include grade correction, channel drains, catch basins or solid conveyance pipe.
Is artificial turf or sod better around a pool?
Neither option is automatically better. Turf requires a constructed drainage base and secure edges. Sod requires compatible sunlight, soil, irrigation and ongoing care.
Can square pavers be installed with turf or gravel?
Yes. The paver dimensions, spacing, base, edge support and finished elevation should be established before the surrounding material is installed.
Will irrigation need to change during the renovation?
Often. Heads may need relocation, capping or adjustment so new hardscape is not sprayed and the revised lawn or planting areas receive appropriate coverage.
