Demolition and excavation
Existing materials, roots and unsuitable soil are removed to create the required depth for the proposed assembly.
Connect the home, patio and yard with surfaces built at the correct elevation.
A patio that feels too small, a worn route between the gate and backyard or runoff crossing a walkway can limit how the family uses the property. PLS Landscaping constructs residential patios and connected walkways as complete hardscape systems. We evaluate access, doors, foundation clearance, lawn grade, runoff and existing improvements before excavation begins. The scope can include removal, selective grading, compacted aggregate base, paver installation, edge restraint, decorative gravel, channel drainage and restoration around the finished surfaces.

Movement, puddles and poor transitions often begin below or beside the finished surface. Replacing pavers without resolving the support, slope or surrounding grade can reproduce the same condition.
Weak support, insufficient compaction, disturbed soil or uncontrolled runoff can allow portions of the surface to move.
Repeated traffic through narrow side yards can destroy grass and leave an unreliable path between gates and patios.
Patios, walks and lawns built at conflicting elevations can hold runoff or direct it toward doors and foundations.
An undersized or disconnected patio can limit seating, grilling and the way children and adults move through the backyard.
Residential paver construction
The exact assembly depends on the material, soil, intended use and site. Each layer has a separate purpose and must connect with the surrounding property.
Existing materials, roots and unsuitable soil are removed to create the required depth for the proposed assembly.
The exposed surface is shaped and compacted where appropriate, with soft or unstable areas addressed before base placement.
Selected base material is installed and compacted in controlled layers to support the paver field and finished pitch.
The setting layer is prepared and pavers are aligned to the approved pattern, dimensions and transitions.
Perimeter conditions are secured and joints are completed with material appropriate to the selected paver system.
Applicable drains are connected, disturbed lawn or beds are restored and final transitions are inspected.
Drainage belongs in the patio plan
A new patio or walkway should not send water toward the home, trap it against a fence or create a low strip in the lawn. Surface pitch is the first consideration. Where elevations or surrounding construction prevent open flow, the scope may include channel drains, catch basins, downspout connections or solid drainage pipe leading toward a responsible outlet.
PLS project work
These photographs show four separate hardscape applications: an expanded paver patio, a natural-stone patio, a large-format path through decorative stone and a patio coordinated with planting borders.

Construction sequence
Planning the full assembly first protects the finished work and reduces avoidable changes after the patio or walkway is installed.
Review dimensions, family use, access, utilities, irrigation, elevations, runoff and material preferences.
Define patio limits, walkway alignment, steps, borders, drainage points and finished transitions.
Remove required materials and prepare underground drainage or sleeves while the work area remains open.
Prepare the subgrade, compact the base, establish bedding and install the selected paver system.
Complete edges and joints, restore disturbed areas, clean the surface and review the project.
A practical investment in family space
A well-planned patio gives the family a dependable place for meals, celebrations and quiet evenings. Connected walkways make it easier for children, guests and pets to move between the home, gate and backyard without crossing mud or worn grass. The value comes from more than the visible pattern. It comes from a layout that supports how the household actually uses the property.

Before construction begins
Often, yes. The existing patio elevation, condition, drainage and edge must be evaluated so the extension can meet it cleanly without trapping runoff or creating an unsafe transition.
Performance depends on the complete assembly, including suitable subgrade, appropriate excavation, compacted base, bedding, joint material and edge restraint. Soil and intended use affect the required method.
Yes. If surface pitch alone cannot move water responsibly, the project may include channel drains, catch basins, downspout connections or solid conveyance pipe installed before the base is completed.
Yes. The gravel field still requires preparation and containment. Paver spacing, walking comfort, base support, weed management expectations and surrounding elevations should be planned together.
Existing irrigation should be located and considered during layout. Heads or lines within the construction area may require relocation or repair before final hardscape and restoration.
Yes. PLS Landscaping evaluates residential projects in Atascocita, Humble, Summerwood, Kingwood, Huffman and nearby northeast Houston communities. Availability depends on scope, access and location.
