Side-yard access becomes unreliable
Narrow shaded routes stay soft, making gates, utilities and backyard access difficult after rain.
Stop rebuilding the surface while the water problem remains underneath.
Recurring mud changes how the whole household uses the property. Children lose a place to play, pets carry soil indoors and the side gate becomes difficult to reach after rain. The condition may result from settlement, roof runoff, compacted soil, blocked surface flow or hardscape built at conflicting elevations. PLS Landscaping evaluates why the area stays wet, then builds the appropriate combination of drainage, grading and surface restoration. The finished area may return to lawn or use a prepared gravel-and-paver route where repeated traffic makes grass impractical.
★★★★★READ GOOGLE REVIEWSThe cost of leaving the condition unresolved
It follows shoes and paws into the home, damages lawn edges, moves soil across hardscape and keeps the family away from outdoor areas that should be useful.
Narrow shaded routes stay soft, making gates, utilities and backyard access difficult after rain.
Sod installed over an unresolved low area remains exposed to saturation, traffic and poor rooting conditions.
Uncontrolled runoff carries loose material over hard surfaces and into drainage openings.
Children lose play space while dogs repeatedly damage the same wet route between doors and the yard.
Correct the cause, then restore the surface
The solution may be primarily drainage, primarily grading or a combination. Surface restoration is selected only after the water path and everyday traffic are understood.
High edges and low areas are reshaped to create positive surface movement toward a workable route.
Visible runoff is collected at planned elevations and conveyed underground toward the selected discharge.
Roof water is moved through dedicated solid pipe instead of emptying beside the slab or into a narrow lawn route.
After drainage and grading, the soil surface is prepared and applicable areas are restored with selected sod.
Where repeated access makes lawn unreliable, excavation, compacted base, edging, gravel and stepping units create a defined path.
Channel drains or point collection can intercept water where patios, walks, gates or other fixed edges block surface flow.
Choose the restoration around actual use
Natural sod can restore broad lawn areas where sunlight, drainage and irrigation support establishment. A frequently used side yard may perform better as a prepared paver-and-gravel walkway. Artificial turf can be considered for selected high-use areas when excavation, drainage, base construction, edges and cleaning needs are addressed. The surface should match the site rather than repeat the material that already failed.
PLS project work
These photographs show different project conditions and restoration choices: exposed soil before sod, underground drainage installation, a stable stepping route and a completed lawn-and-walkway reconstruction.

Construction sequence
The sequence protects the new surface and reduces the chance of reopening completed sod, gravel or hardscape to reach drainage underneath.
Review runoff sources, low areas, soil, shade, traffic, irrigation, access and discharge options.
Set collection points, grading limits, underground routes and the appropriate restoration surface.
Open the site and complete applicable basins, pipe, downspout connections and base work.
Restore planned elevations and build the prepared lawn, gravel, paver or turf support system.
Install final surfaces, test applicable drainage and irrigation and review care with the homeowner.
Reclaim the yard after rainfall
A useful solution reduces more than the puddle. It can make the side gate dependable, protect the restored lawn, keep muddy paws and shoes out of the house and return an avoided corner to everyday use. The family should be able to enjoy the yard without waiting several dry days for the ground to become passable.

Before construction begins
Slow drying can result from low elevation, compacted soil, shade, roof runoff, neighboring grade or blocked surface flow. The visible mud does not identify the cause by itself.
Adding soil without establishing a continuous water route can move the puddle elsewhere or raise the lawn against the home and hardscape. Fill and grading must be planned around surrounding elevations.
Yes. Applicable areas can be prepared and restored after underground work and final grading are complete. Sod establishment still depends on watering, weather, sunlight, soil and aftercare.
Loose gravel placed directly over soft soil is not a complete solution. A dependable path may require excavation, separation material, compacted base, edge restraint, drainage and a controlled finish layer.
Yes. Combining them allows the collection points, pipe routes, base and finished walkway elevation to be coordinated before the surface is closed.
Yes. PLS Landscaping serves Atascocita and nearby northeast Houston communities, including portions of Humble and Kingwood. Availability depends on scope, access and location.
