Pavers, natural stone or compatible hardscape surfaces over a prepared, compacted base.
Hardscaping Built Around Structure, Access and Water Flow
A patio can look finished and still hold water. A walkway can settle when the base is not prepared correctly. A retaining wall can trap moisture when drainage is treated as an afterthought. PLS Landscaping coordinates patios, walkways, borders, retaining walls and drainage as one construction plan for Cypress properties. The result is an outdoor area that feels connected, supports daily use and gives water a controlled path away from the surfaces you want to enjoy.
When the yard stops working
The visible problem is often at the connection between systems.
Cracked edges, loose pavers, soil washing onto a walkway, water behind a wall and puddles beside a patio rarely exist in isolation. They usually point to base, elevation, restraint or drainage conditions that must be corrected together.
Stable circulation routes connecting doors, gates, patios, pools and service areas.
Stone or structural edging that contains beds, gravel and changes in material.
Wall systems planned around retained height, base preparation, backfill and outlet drainage.
Surface collection, wall drainage and conveyance matched to the finished elevations.
Build order
Drainage belongs inside the hardscape plan, not after it.
Measure and diagnose
Review access, elevations, thresholds, water movement, utilities and irrigation conflicts.
Excavate and establish drainage
Install required pipe, aggregate, wall drainage, inlets or discharge lines before finished work.
Prepare the structural base
Build and compact the base in lifts, then set wall footings, restraints and working elevations.
Install and test the connections
Complete surfaces, joints and borders, restore adjacent areas and confirm water can reach its outlet.
Construction evidence
Different materials. One coordinated site.
These project views show the separate systems that must meet correctly at edges, elevation changes and drainage points.

Connected Cypress services
Continue with the systems the property actually requires.
A broader renovation may require sod restoration, turf, grading or a complete backyard scope after the structural hardscape is complete.
Residential project availability includes Cypress, Bridgeland, Towne Lake, Coles Crossing, Fairfield, Copperfield and nearby northwest Houston communities. Contact us to confirm the property location and construction scope.
Questions before construction
Hardscape and drainage questions from homeowners
Should drainage be installed before a patio?
When the site requires underground conveyance, wall drainage or an inlet near the patio, that work should be coordinated before the finished surface is installed.
Why do pavers settle or separate?
Common contributors include inadequate excavation, poorly compacted base, loss of edge restraint, concentrated runoff or movement in the supporting soil.
Does every retaining wall need drainage?
Walls holding back soil generally require a plan for water behind the wall. The appropriate aggregate, pipe and outlet depend on the wall, grade and site conditions.
Can a walkway be added beside the foundation?
Often yes, but the finished elevation must preserve foundation clearance and direct water appropriately rather than creating a narrow channel against the home.
Can borders contain gravel and planting beds?
Yes. The border material and base should suit the retained material, curves, height changes and nearby mowing or foot traffic.
What happens during the onsite evaluation?
We review the intended use, dimensions, access, elevations, runoff, existing surfaces and the systems that must connect before defining a practical scope.
Start with the existing condition
Build an outdoor area you can use without ignoring where the water goes.
Tell us where water collects, which surfaces feel unstable and how you want to move through or enjoy the property. We can review the site and define the correct construction sequence.
