Pooling beside the home
Water remains against the foundation-side grade instead of moving toward an open outlet.
Move gutter discharge beyond the foundation and lawn edge
A downspout releases concentrated roof runoff into a small area. When that water empties beside the foundation, into a narrow side yard or at the edge of a patio, short surface extensions may only move the problem a few feet. Saturated beds, eroded soil, muddy gates and repeated lawn damage often follow.
PLS Landscaping connects selected downspouts to solid underground drainage pipe and builds a planned conveyance route toward a suitable discharge point. The work is evaluated around roof volume, pipe fall, access, existing utilities, irrigation and finished elevation. This creates a cleaner, more enjoyable property for family, friends, kids and pets while protecting the homeowner's outdoor investment.

The point where a downspout ends often reveals whether the roof water has a usable route away from the structure.
Water remains against the foundation-side grade instead of moving toward an open outlet.
Concentrated discharge cuts a channel through beds, exposes roots or pushes mulch across walks.
Roof water saturates the narrow route used for gates, trash containers, pets or equipment access.
Loose surface pieces shift, become trip hazards or discharge too close to the original problem area.
Underground gutter extension components
Each connection must remain accessible enough for practical inspection while the underground route protects flow and the surrounding finish elevation.
Transition the gutter outlet into the underground system without forcing a weak or inaccessible connection against the structure.
Use solid drainage pipe to carry concentrated roof runoff rather than intentionally releasing it into the surrounding soil.
Establish a practical route around foundations, utilities, irrigation, roots and hardscape while protecting flow toward the outlet.
Include access where the route or connection layout benefits from future inspection and debris removal.
Terminate the system at a suitable location based on property elevation, neighborhood conditions and the approved project route.
Backfill the trench, restore the intended grade and replace included sod, gravel or bed material disturbed by the installation.
Solid pipe
A connected downspout sends a defined volume into the pipe. Solid conveyance contains that flow until it reaches the planned outlet. This is the normal function of an underground gutter extension.
Perforated pipe
A French drain serves saturated-soil or subsurface-water conditions. It is not an automatic substitute for solid roof-water conveyance. A project may use both systems, but they should be assigned different functions.
Drainage construction details
The finished lawn may conceal the system, but connection quality, pipe alignment and discharge planning determine how the roof water moves.

Installation sequence
Identify selected downspouts, visible damage, elevations, existing drainage and possible outlets.
Request public utility marking and review irrigation or private lines within the planned route.
Remove included surface material and excavate around access, roots, utilities and fixed improvements.
Build the downspout transitions, solid pipe route, fittings and applicable access points.
Restore the intended grade and replace included lawn, gravel or bed surfaces disturbed by construction.

Downspout drainage questions
Solid pipe is generally used to convey collected roof water toward an outlet. Perforated pipe is used for different subsurface-water conditions and should not automatically replace solid conveyance.
Not automatically. The number of connections, roof area, route, pipe capacity, fall and outlet conditions must be evaluated before combining gutter sources.
The discharge location depends on available elevation, property layout, neighborhood conditions and applicable requirements. The outlet should be selected before excavation begins.
Some layouts benefit from accessible cleanout or inspection points, especially where multiple connections, direction changes or longer routes are involved.
Trenching disturbs the route and may cross sprinkler lines. The scope should address utility marking, irrigation awareness and restoration of the affected lawn, gravel or planting-bed surfaces.
Pricing depends on the number of downspouts, pipe length and depth, fittings, access, utilities, hardscape crossings, outlet construction and required surface restoration.
Request a roof-runoff evaluation
PLS Landscaping will review the gutter sources, visible runoff damage, route elevations, existing utilities and possible discharge points before preparing the Tomball construction scope.
