A short downspout can concentrate a large amount of water in one small area
Splash blocks and short surface extensions may help in some locations, but they can be displaced, crossed by foot traffic or end before the yard reaches a usable drainage route. A buried system keeps the connection organized and moves roof runoff below the walking surface. The pipe still needs positive slope, accessible connections and a responsible outlet.

The correct scope depends on where the roof water enters, how far it must travel and where it can leave the property without creating another wet area.
Solid underground pipe
Solid pipe conveys collected roof water without intentionally releasing it into the soil along the route. Pipe type and size are selected for the applicable layout.
Trench and slope preparation
The route is excavated around known conditions and set to an achievable slope. Low sections and poorly supported pipe can hold water or settle.
Cleanouts and service access
Accessible points may be included where the route, fittings or maintenance needs make them useful. Buried systems should not be impossible to inspect.
Responsible discharge
The outlet may use a daylight point, pop-up emitter or other approved route depending on grade, property boundaries and applicable requirements.
Grade and lawn restoration
After installation and applicable testing, trenches are backfilled and disturbed surfaces are restored within the defined project scope.

A downspout extension is a conveyance system. Its purpose is to receive water at the house and transport it toward a selected outlet. Perforated pipe is associated with collecting water from surrounding soil and is not the default material for carrying concentrated roof runoff.

PLS Landscaping installs the ground-level connection and underground extension. We do not install roof gutters. Existing gutters and downspouts should be in serviceable condition and properly sized by the applicable gutter contractor.
Planning note: Underground utility locating and awareness of private irrigation or low-voltage systems are important before excavation begins.

No. This service begins at the existing downspout. PLS installs the ground-level connection, buried drainage route and applicable discharge components.
Why use solid pipe for a downspout extension?
Solid pipe is designed to carry concentrated roof runoff through the yard without intentionally releasing it along the route. Perforated pipe serves a different drainage purpose.
Where can the water discharge?
The answer depends on property elevation, boundaries, available outlets and applicable local requirements. The onsite evaluation identifies feasible routes. Water should not simply be redirected onto a neighboring property.
Can several downspouts connect to one line?
They may be combined when the route, pipe capacity, fittings and outlet support the connected flow. The layout should be evaluated rather than assuming every downspout belongs on one pipe.
Will the lawn be restored after trenching?
Backfill and surface restoration are defined in the estimate. Restoration may include grading, soil preparation and sod in disturbed areas when included in the project scope.
How is the project price determined?
Pricing depends on the number of connections, route length, excavation conditions, pipe and fittings, access, obstacles, discharge construction, disposal and restoration. An onsite estimate allows these conditions to be reviewed directly.
