Vertical displacement
Panels have settled or lifted until adjoining surfaces no longer meet evenly.
Demolition, structural preparation and concrete reconstruction
Uneven concrete should not make the route to your front door feel uncertain. PLS Landscaping replaces cracked, settled and poorly sloped residential sidewalks by removing the failed panels and rebuilding the support beneath them. The scope can include demolition, haul-off, subgrade correction, compacted base, forming, reinforcement, concrete placement, control joints and edge restoration. Every route is planned around the home, driveway, gates, steps, utilities and runoff so the completed sidewalk serves your family as a connected part of the property.
Read the entire walking route
The visible crack is only one part of the evaluation. Replacement planning follows the route from its starting point to its destination and checks how each fixed elevation affects safety, drainage and construction access.
Route checkpoints
Check abrupt lips, vehicle crossings and the elevation where the pedestrian route begins.
Protect foundation clearance and avoid leaving soil or sod higher than the finished concrete edge.
Coordinate the final approach with steps, thresholds, fence gates and adjoining slabs.
Panels have settled or lifted until adjoining surfaces no longer meet evenly.
Broken corners, loose pieces or multiple cracks make a panel difficult to repair reliably.
Water remains on the walking surface or follows the concrete toward the home.
Erosion, exposed voids or disturbed soil leave the slab perimeter without consistent support.
Houston soil and water movement
Moisture changes in Houston-area soils can contribute to movement beneath small concrete slabs. Poor compaction, buried organic material, leaking irrigation, roof runoff and unsupported edges can make that movement worse. Replacement creates access to the underlying construction area so unsuitable material, elevation conflicts and drainage conditions can be addressed before the new sidewalk is placed.
A narrow, stable crack may be a different condition from a panel that has shifted, broken apart or lost support. PLS evaluates the affected route and defines whether targeted section replacement or a broader reconstruction is practical. Cosmetic patching is not presented as a structural correction.
Residential concrete work
These PLS project photographs show existing concrete conditions, demolition, formed and reinforced preparation, and a completed driveway-to-entry connection. Each caption describes only the visible construction stage.

Construction sequence
Measure panels, transitions, access, utilities and water movement.
Separate failed sections, remove concrete and haul included debris.
Correct unsuitable material and compact the specified support.
Set elevations, slope, panel layout and reinforcement.
Pour, consolidate, finish and joint the new concrete.
Complete cleanup and included work along the concrete edges.
Everyday usability
Once the raised edges and broken panels are gone, children, relatives and visitors can move between the driveway, yard and entry with greater confidence. A defined concrete route also makes everyday tasks with groceries, strollers, carts and outdoor equipment less frustrating.

Houston sidewalk questions
Possibly. The adjoining panels, reinforcement, elevations and drainage must allow a functional section replacement with suitable transitions.
If loose, wet, organic or poorly compacted material remains, the new concrete may inherit the same lack of support. Demolition provides access to evaluate and correct the construction area.
Yes, when the existing elevations permit a safe and functional connection. Transition details are measured before forms and reinforcement are installed.
The planned surface slope is coordinated with foundation clearance, lawn elevation and the available runoff route. Additional drainage may be required where grading alone cannot move water responsibly.
No concrete should be represented as crack-proof. Reinforcement, prepared support, planned joints and drainage-aware elevations help control movement and support the completed slab.
We review the concrete condition, dimensions, access, demolition limits, utilities, irrigation conflicts, subgrade, fixed elevations, runoff and requested restoration.
Schedule an onsite evaluation
PLS Landscaping will evaluate the failed panels, transitions, support conditions, drainage and construction access before defining the replacement scope.
