Wet lawn and soft soil
Water remains after rain, collects near downspouts or becomes trapped between the home, fence and neighboring grade.
Houston, TX and nearby cities
When a yard stays wet, settles unevenly, loses grass or no longer works for your family, replacing the visible surface is rarely enough. PLS Landscaping coordinates the underground systems, elevations, soil preparation and finished landscape as one residential construction project, so each phase supports the next.
One yard, connected conditions
Standing water can destroy new sod. Incorrect grading can direct runoff toward the house. Irrigation coverage can become inadequate after lawn and planting areas change. Beds installed too high can block surface flow. A successful renovation starts by understanding these relationships.
Water remains after rain, collects near downspouts or becomes trapped between the home, fence and neighboring grade.
Settlement, compacted soil, exposed roots, poor drainage, shade or inconsistent watering can prevent grass from establishing.
Overgrown beds, failing borders, unused spaces and awkward transitions can make the entire property difficult to use and maintain.
Damaged lines, misplaced heads and zones that no longer match the renovated layout can leave some areas saturated and others dry.
Complete residential site work
The final scope can include one service or a complete yard renovation. Each component is selected and scheduled around access, excavation, runoff, finished elevation and restoration.
Catch basins, solid conveyance pipe, channel drains, downspout connections, French drains or sump systems where site conditions and discharge requirements support them.
Removal, fill placement, settlement correction, positive surface flow and final soil preparation at elevations compatible with foundations, walks, patios and drains.
New systems and layout changes including controllers, valves, spray heads, rotors, drip irrigation, wiring repairs, zone adjustments and coverage testing.
Existing turf removal, surface preparation and sod installation using a grass selection suited to sunlight, traffic and site conditions. Establishment depends on watering and care after installation.
New beds, soil preparation, structural or stone borders, trees, shrubs, planting, mulch, decorative gravel and transitions coordinated with drainage and irrigation.
Why sequence matters
Installing sod before correcting drainage can waste the lawn investment. Building beds before establishing grade can block runoff. Completing irrigation after restoration can damage new surfaces. The construction order is part of the solution.
Drainage pipe, collection points, irrigation lines, valves and wiring are installed while the site remains open.
Rough grade, compaction where required, soil placement and fine grading establish the finished surface.
Borders, planting, mulch, gravel and sod complete the visible renovation after the supporting systems are ready.
Construction in the field
These project photographs show four different phases of coordinated residential site work, from excavation and soil correction to irrigation and final restoration.

Construction process
Review runoff, elevations, soil, irrigation, access, utilities and existing materials.
Establish removals, flow routes, finished grade, lawn areas, beds and irrigation changes.
Complete demolition, excavation and disposal while protecting features that remain.
Build drainage and irrigation components before surface restoration closes the area.
Shape elevations, prepare soil, build landscape areas and install sod or finish materials.
Test applicable drainage and irrigation, inspect transitions and review initial care.
Houston-area service
PLS Landscaping evaluates residential projects throughout Houston and surrounding communities, including Katy, Cypress, Richmond, Sugar Land, Bellaire, West University Place, Spring, Tomball and The Woodlands. Scheduling depends on project scope, site access and location.
Project questions
Yes. Combining the work is often practical because underground drainage and irrigation can be completed before final grading and sod installation.
No. Surface grading, catch basins, solid pipe, downspout connections, channel drains or a sump system may be more appropriate. The water source, elevations, soil and discharge route determine the method.
Soil preparation corrects surface irregularities and creates the intended finished elevation. It also allows site conditions such as compaction, debris or drainage conflicts to be addressed before grass covers the area.
Existing heads and visible coverage concerns are reviewed within the agreed project scope. Necessary adjustments should be completed before sod so the new lawn can receive consistent watering.
Often, yes. The evaluation identifies plants, borders and hardscape that can remain, what conflicts with drainage or grading and what protection will be needed during construction.
Pricing is based on measured quantities, demolition, access, excavation, disposal, equipment, materials, installation methods and restoration. An onsite evaluation is required to define an accurate construction scope.
